Listen

Listening is a skill.

A skill is not something that just comes to you it is an ability that
is developed through training.    We must train ourselves to
listen as others speak.

I realized what a poor listener I was many years ago as a
co worker and I were talking.  It was as if  the co worker was in
very slow motion, kind of like the Matrix movie where time
slows down.   Their lips were moving, but all I was doing
was hearing my own thoughts racing.
I can recall directing myself to ... LISTEN.

When the conversation ended I went back to my work bench
and made myself a sign that said...  LISTEN.

Conversation may indeed be an art, but listening is
the gift we give another when we converse.
